One Wrong Move was a fast-paced thriller, and I loved the wild ride! Especially after having just finished reading another thriller that was less than thrilling, this was a great change of pace! The author did a great job of balancing out dialogue and action and making it feel seamless. If you enjoy thrillers that have Christian themes, clean romance, and plot twists, then One Wrong Move might be right up your alley :)

Wowza, Dani Pettrey has penned another winner that is chock full of adrenaline-pumping suspense, toe-curling romance, and a soul-stirring faith story!

I absolutely loved Andi and Christian, they are such a great couple and it is a joy to watch them fall in love!

This author does an incredible of crafting settings that become a character in the story. Whenever I read a Dani Pettrey book I feel like I’ve gone on vacation to the setting because it is written so vividly, and this book is no exception! I love a small town setting and Jeopardy Falls has quickly become a favorite!

The redemption story in One Wrong Move is absolutely beautiful and just might make you tear up! Dani Pettrey’s books are a master class in how to write realistic faith woven organically into the storyline, so so good!

This author’s books are fast-paced and I’m always perched at the edge of my seat while I fly through the pages, but conversely there is also a relaxing quality to her books that makes me like I’m chilling in a hammock or some other comfy spot, and these are only two of a billion reasons why I love her books so much!

Sibling series are my absolute fave! I’m already obsessed with the MacLeod family, and cannot wait for book 2!

I’ve read everything this author has published and One Wrong Move is one of my favorites by her! I wish I could rate it higher than five stars!

I seriously absolutely adored every second I spent reading this book and most highly recommend it. If you only read one romantic suspense book this year, read this one, you won’t regret it!

Dani Pettrey's "One Wrong Move" is a gripping addition to the Christian romantic suspense genre, reminiscent of the compelling family dynamics that first drew me to her Alaskan Courage series. In this novel, the intricate relationships between Christian O'Brady, his sister Riley, and his brother Deckard are masterfully portrayed, echoing the beloved familial bonds that Pettrey is known for.

The dual narrative of the art theft case and the re-investigation of the FBI fiasco that ended Andi's career is well executed. This parallel plot structure kept me thoroughly engaged, as I eagerly followed the twists and turns of each storyline. Pettrey's rich and vivid descriptions of Arizona not only bring the setting to life but also add a sense of wanderlust, making me long to explore the Southwest.

Deckard's choice to give Andi the benefit of the doubt is a highlight of the story, reflecting the themes of forgiveness and trust that are central to the novel. These Christian themes, particularly the emphasis on being a new creation in Christ and entrusting our futures to God, are woven seamlessly into the narrative, enriching the story without overwhelming it.

For those who enjoy the works of Elizabeth Goddard, Lisa Harris, and Patricia Bradley, "One Wrong Move" is a standout choice. Pettrey has once again delivered a story that is not just a thrilling ride but also a moving exploration of faith, redemption, and the unbreakable bonds of family.

One of the things I always love so much about Dani Pettrey’s books is the team/family bond that her characters have. Whether it’s the McKennas from her Alaskan Courage series or the law enforcement friends in the Chesapeake Valor books or the CGIS team in the Coastal Guardians series, her characters have each other’s backs and have fun together, even in the midst of stressful situations. This never fails to put a smile on my face AND keep me coming back for more time with these friends/family/teams that I quickly grow to love.

Now Pettrey has introduced us to the Jeopardy Falls crew of private investigators & security specialists (made up of the Macleod siblings and a close family friend), and I can already tell that these characters will be another strong team who isn’t afraid to joke around but takes their jobs – and their relationships – very seriously. I loved the dynamics between brothers Christian & Deck as well as their kid sister Riley and their mentor Greyson (who seems to be harboring some secret feelings for Riley – oh the romantic possibilities!!!). Christian’s kindness to Andi, his belief in her innocence, and his brokenness over past mistakes endeared him to me right away. The addition of former FBI analyst-turned-insurance-investigator Andi and her best friend Harper (still with FBI forensics) is a good one that synced well with the Macleod personalities and skill sets. Andi is a great character who has been dealt a bad hand, and I really enjoyed getting to know her and watching her & Christian fall for each other. I loved Harper too (though I think Riley will end up being my favorite female of the bunch… a close call though), and I’m all a’swoon with the sparks between Harper and Deck that promise to develop into more in a future book.

On the surface, One Wrong Move seems to be about a cleverly-orchestrated art heist. And it is. But it’s also so much more than that. Their investigation is layered and multi-dimensional and it takes them down paths and to suspects that I wasn’t initially expecting. What began with art heists escalates to something even more dangerous as Christian & Andi follow their suspicions & leads around New Mexico. Along with the immediate case demanding Christian & Andi’s attention, Deck and Harper also have their own separate pursuit involving the case that ended Andi’s FBI career. I was solidly invested in both investigations, eagerly turning the pages as my mind whirred with suspects and clues, my heart staying near my throat as these characters I immediately loved had to dodge bullets and threats and other pulse-racing attempts on their lives.

Bottom Line: Swoony romance. High-stakes suspense. Compelling characters. Dani Pettrey’s newest novel One Wrong Move has all the right moves when it comes to an engaging story that keeps you on the edge of your seat. Meaningful explorations of redemption and forgiveness occur naturally within the plot, adding to the character layers without feeling forced or distracting from the story. I was already excited about this series but reading One Wrong Move made me even more eager for the books to come – I can’t wait to catch up with the characters again and see what else Pettrey has up her sleeve for them to investigate.

My husband and I listened to this heart-pounding romantic suspense. It had all the things we love in a book. It had wonderful characters, nail-biting suspense, thrills, and a swoony romance. We look forward to the next installment.

I’ve been a fan of Dani Pettrey from the first book of hers I read! I’ve always appreciated not only the heart-pounding thrillers she writes, but that her books are clean and include an element of faith and personal beliefs!

This book dives right into the suspense when several art galleries (owned by the same man) are robbed simultaneously, and Christian O’Brady is immediately on scene since he was the man who installed each of the security systems! Christian soon pairs up with Andi Forester and together they face one challenge after another trying to not only solve the case but clear their names!

It becomes very obvious very quickly that someone wants this duo off the case, and together they navigate the dangerous waters of revenge and deception!

Pettrey keeps the tension cranked up, making it impossible to put the book down. With its blend of suspense, intricate plot twists, and well-drawn characters, One Wrong Move is a gripping read that will keep you hooked until the very end.

Pettrey has the uncanny ability to set the scene so well that I am looking on a map for Jeopardy Falls! I love the characters and can’t wait for the rest of the series! One Wrong Move is a page turner with plenty of twists and turns along the way! Highly recommend!

I love a book that starts out strong, with bodies dropping and villains reveling in their handiwork. I love a book with damaged characters that create a second chance for themselves and One Wrong Move by Dani Pettrey fits the bill.

Christian O’Brady is on a mountaintop, when he receives an urgent call. Tad Gaiman’s gallery has been robbed. I will say that I have nothing good to be said about Tad. He’s a dick, with a capital D!

Andi, an insurance adjuster and ex FBI, is called in. As soon as she stepped out of her vehicle, she felt the hairs on the back of her neck rise. The past never lets us go and it strikes when Andi least expects it. It leaves Christian with questions of his own, but he believes in his ability to read a person’s characters and he feels Andi is a stand up person, regardless of what his brother says.

Andi’s best friend Harper comes in like a bat out of hell. Hold on to your hats, because she is a force to be reckoned with. She’s not the least bit shy. I love Riley, Christian’s sister. She is one of my favorite characters. She is an observer. She can find anyone and help anyone disappear. She has me laughing and the part she plays in a reenactment made me laugh at loud.

“Great. I get to be the victim again.”

They are a very tight Christian family. The Christian element is not in your face.

I do see another romance sparking and love is blooming all over the desert. That’s the wonderful thing about a romantic suspense series, we have plenty of characters to get involved with and plenty of mystery to come.

I never hesitate to recommend a book by Dani Pettrey, unless the reader is not willing to lose a few hours of sleep. Once I start reading any book by Dani, it is nearly impossible to put down.

Christian O’Brady, a PI, and Andi, Forester, an insurance investigator, formally, FBI, both arrive at an art gallery to investigate a heist. The owner, insured for ten million dollars, owns three galleys and they all take a hit. Each has an expensive collection; two of art and jewels and the third, nearly priceless wine. The losses far exceed the amount of insurance coverage.

Christian, with a checkered past himself, spent time as a teen in juvie, however, contributes the changes in his life to his faith and trust in God. He and his siblings are in business together, with his specialty of providing top of the line security systems, as well as his status as a PI.

Andi lost her job in the FBI because of false accusations, that, at the time, were impossible to refute. As Andi and Christian team up to catch the perpetrators of the heists, several murders are also connected to the crimes. Christian brings his sibling business partners into the investigation. What a shock when Andi discovers Deckard, Christian’s brother is the very one who supported the false accusations against her, causing her to lose her job with the FBI.

Many twists and turns take the reader on a wild ride to unexpected places and unforeseen circumstances. Intriguing characters and clues even lead them across the country. When additional details emerge, Dekard teams up with Andi’s best friend, Harper, to disprove his earlier assessment of any wrongdoing by Andi.

From the first page of this gripping, captivating story, I could not turn the pages fast enough. After the last page was turned, continued to think of this riveting story.
