We have become quite creative in finding ways to safely gather, as many of us have become experts at socializing by ZOOM, WebEx Meeting and MS Teams.

Accepting the reality that we all must wear masks and continue reasonable social distancing, gathering as we did pre-pandemic is still several months away. Yet, many churches, ministries and Christian entertainers are conducting virtual events, allowing us to socialize safely.

We urge you to check the website of your church and any of the ministries listed HERE for virtual events that may be of interest to you.

You’ve probably started to notice the shift ... the cooler nights, the changing scent, that slight feeling of anxiety/excitement knowing September is around the corner (that nudge is there even if you’ve been out of school for years), and don’t get me started on the retail inventory - Fall is coming. But, it’s not here yet! There are still summer days filled with warm sunshine to embrace. So, keep the pumpkin spice everything locked away for a while longer and live in the moment. This week is all about new or unique ways you can engage with four neighbourhood communities around London. Step outside your bubble (not your COVID-19 bubble!) and head to a different neck of the woods than you’re used to exploring. TAP is “London’s creative hub” - boasting a gallery, theatre, workshop space and resident artist studios all under one roof in the downtown core. The next two weekends will feature a solo exhibition for Connor Mackinnon who is completing his 1-year residency. This gallery viewing will be available in person with advance bookings, and also allows for a digital experience. Visit https://www.tapcreativity.org/ to book a viewing for August 21, 22, 28 or 29. Before or after checking out Mackinnon’s work, take a walk down the middle of the street - Dundas Place is open! London’s first flex street allows pedestrians to roam freely. Visit merchants, grab a drink on a patio or just enjoy a leisurely stroll in the core without vehicles getting in your way. You’ll be able to experience the area car-free throughout August on Friday and Saturday nights from 6:00 - 11:00 p.m. and Sunday’s from 10:00 am - 4:00 p.m.

Community Corn Roast with Ron Benner Sunday, August 21, 2022 at 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm Cost: Free After a hiatus of two years due to the pandemic, please join London artist, Ron Benner, at his photographic/garden installation, As The Crow Flies, on Sunday, August 21, 2022 for Maiz Barbacoa. This annual community gathering features roasted corn on the cob with butter, salt, Mexican chili powder and fresh lime juice. Part sculpture, part installation, and part performance, this event will feature Benner's roving corn-roasting wagon, Maiz Barbacoa, commissioned by Toronto's inaugural Scotiabank Nuit Blanche in 2006. Maiz Barbacoa includes images of corn roasters from around the world and the names of corn in over 50 languages. Dan and Mary Lou Smoke will open the corn roast and give thanks to the maize plant. This event will feature the live music of Frank Ridsdale and celebrate the Embassy Cultural House's (ECH) catalogue, Pandemic Gardens: Resilience Through Nature. This catalogue highlights work from the ECH's online exhibition organized by Ron Benner and Rachel MacGillivray, Fredericton, NB, with the assistance of Jamelie Hassan, Olivia Mossuto and JoAnna Weil.
