A child is an extension of a mother's heartbeat walking around outside of her body. Shockingly, God chose an ordinary, young, obedient woman to become the mother of the Savior of the world. It is almost impossible to grasp the immensity of the concept that the Son of God came from a womb and was flesh-just like you and me. Yet, the bible tells us, "The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us" (John 1:14 NIV).

In her book, Come to Me, the author Laura J. Davis, captures the essence of the poignant, intimate and loving relationship between, the Word made flesh, Jesus, and his mother Mary. With each turn of a page, I am immersed in a story that Laura has brought to life with the colors, smells and sounds of a mother watching her baby boy train to do the will of His Heavenly Father. As an observer, it is an achingly beautiful experience to plunge yourself into the story as Laura describes the life of Jesus healing, forming miracles and modeling for us how to love one another. Yet we know the end of this tender and heartbreaking narrative. It is with a kindred mother spirit that I walk with Mary to the cross and watch her beloved son take on the sins of the world and die a horrific death. Then my heart beats with joy for Mary as she hears the triumphant news that her Son is alive, and that because of that resurrection, those who believe in Him will enjoy His forgiveness and presence for all eternity.

Laura's passionate writing catapults the reader into the midst of the greatest narrative ever written; a love story for you and me. This book will radically personalize your relationship with Jesus. I believe you will fall in love with Him in a way that can only be described as, the intimate linking of heartbeats into all eternity. This is one book you will want to have by your beside to bring you hope and peace before you fall asleep. Buy one for yourself and ten more for the people in your life who need to discover the radical, transforming love of Jesus.
