Haiti is one of the poorest countries in the world, and after the devastating earthquake many years ago, Haiti has still not found its footing. The people of Haiti, however, are a resilient group and they have such large hearts.

The Schlegel organization decided to do a mission trip with 25 individuals in February/March of 2014 in order to help our brothers and sisters in Haiti. We were excited to discover the culture of Haiti, and we met amazing individuals who were trying to make a difference in Haiti. These people worked with Haitians to help them improve their own lives by growing their own food and starting their own businesses.

In 2016, another group of Schlegel Village team members will be making the journey to Haiti and continue on with this journey of discovery. To this end, we need to raise some funds in order to support the team going to Haiti. On Saturday, September 26th team members from the Village of Glendale Crossing will be holding a Haiti "Dinner of Hope" at St. George's church, located at 1164 Commissioner's Road. The event starts at 6:30pm and all are welcome to learn a little bit more about this country and the amazing journey that our team members have been on.
