Fervent: A Woman's Battle Plan to Serious, Specific and Strategic Prayer

You have an enemy . . . and he’s dead set on destroying all you hold dear and keeping you from experiencing abundant life in Christ. What’s more, his approach to disrupting your life and discrediting your faith isn’t general or generic, not a one-size-fits-all. It’s specific. Personalized. Targeted.

So this book is your chance to strike back. With prayer. With a weapon that really works. Each chapter will guide you in crafting prayer strategies that hit the enemy where it hurts, letting him know you’re on to him and that you won’t back down. Because with every new strategy you build, you’re turning the fiercest battles of life into precise strikes against him and his handiwork, each one infused with the power of God’s Spirit.

New York Times bestselling author Priscilla Shirer, widely known for her international speaking, teaching, and writing ministries, brings her new role from the 2015 film War Room into the real lives of today’s women, addressing the topics that affect them most: renewing their passion , refocusing their identity , negotiating family strife, dealing with relentless regrets , navigating impossible schedules , succeeding against temptation , weathering their worst fears , uprooting bitterness , and more. Each chapter exposes the enemy’s cruel, crafty intentions in all kinds of these areas, then equips and encourages you to write out your own personalized prayer strategies on tear-out sheets you can post and pray over yourself and your loved ones on a regular basis.

Fervent is a hands-on, knees-down, don’t-give-up action guide to practical, purposeful praying.

Reader Reviews:

Brandi’s comments submitted: If you have seen the movie War Room and are longing to implement what you saw on the screen through Priscilla Shirer's character then you need this book. I loved the movie but this book just takes it over the top. If you've ever experienced a Bible study by Priscilla you already know what I mean. If not let me give you a little glimpse of what is to come.

The opening of the book sets the stage so you will have no doubt about what is expected.

Karen’s comments: Priscilla has written a book on prayer that is as practical as they come. It's not a theoretical dissertation on prayer. It's a nuts and bolts "let's get on our knees and get after it" guide. Step by step coverage of ten different areas of your life: passion, focus, identity, family, past, fears, purity, pressures, hurts and relationships. She includes numerous specific scriptures for each of these ten areas. If this book doesn't motivate you in the war against the enemy of your soul I don't know what will. "Prayer is the portal that brings the power of heaven down to earth. It is kryptonite to the enemy and to all his ploys against you....His reign of terror stops here. Stops now. He might keep coming, but he won't have victory anymore."

Rachel Dodson said: Do you want to be a prayer warrior? Have you ever felt that your prayer life needed something extra? Do you want to know the perfect strategies to fight against the battles of the devil? This is the book for you. Follow Priscilla through a journey of your prayer life. Find strategies for fighting against the devil in his attempt to distract you and those around you.

I have been so enveloped by this book. I can't believe the difference it has made in my life. I have been a Christian for a very long time, but this book brought so many things to light that I had never thought about before. I could see the need for change in my prayer life and this book made me want to change. I find myself wanting to prayer and give my cares and concerns to God. This book has changed me for the better. Priscilla makes so many great points to help you in your prayer journey, but she also gives you the tools to do it. Putting Scripture references at the end of each chapter to give you verses to back up your prayer strategy was an awesome bonus. I can't put this book down and I feel like it is making a difference in not only my prayer life, but how I pray for others in my life. I am so excited that I found this book and I can't wait to share it with every Christian woman I know. This book is what is needed to start a fire in Christian women around the country or even the world!

Buy this book! Pass it along to others. Give copies at Christmas or for birthdays. Share, share, share! I hope every Christian woman will have the opportunity to read this book. Let's start a prayer revival!

Kat Smith wrote: Looking for a great book on the strategies of battle worthy prayer for women? Something like industrial grade survival gear to face off against the enemy instead of taking on friendly fire, or being defeated in yet another daily spiritual battle? How many more times we will risk falling victim to the enemies schemes to cause division in our homes, families, marriages, relationships and just about every area of our life, while he simply seems to get better at it? If you are ready to get serious about prayer, free from whatever is keeping you held down and held back, wanting to reach our destiny and experience God's promises in our lives, than I would encourage you to pick up Fervent: A Woman's Battle Plan for Serious, Specific and Strategic Prayer by Priscilla Shirer.

Inspired by the upcoming movie the War Room, Priscilla takes us deep into the heart of the very ploys that Satan designs us to fail in specific areas of our life and shows us exactly how he plans on doing that. It creates an eye opening look to what his plans are, what the symptoms look like, and how we can pray more boldly for victory each time an attack comes. She even designed tear out cards you can create to put in the place you pray most often so you can use that specific prayer when facing a particular attack in that area.

As long as prayer remains an afterthought, no matter how badly we may want it, without the confidence, meaning, clarity, and vitality needed in our prayers, we simply waste years doing a whole lot of other things. Things that thoroughly exhaust us but ultimately don't work. We end up, for all our trying, missing the point on what God intended, missing the whole heart of what really matters. This book is designed to help you create, plan and pray specifically and strategically with precision in areas like passion, focus, identity, family, our past, our fears, our purity, pressures, hurts and relationships. It will teach you that when you pray about the places where we seriously suspect the enemy is at work - that is how we keep our prayers focused, not only on particular situations, but on biblical truths that are consistent with maintaining victory in the midst of them.

Robin Hatcher says: This is a wonderful book on prayer. Fervent prayer. I read it on my Kindle, but I think I will need to buy a print copy so that I can more easily focus in on the ends of each chapter. Whether I do that or not, this is a book that should be read more than once and should be put into practice. Thanks, Pricilla, for your obedience in writing this book!

Tim Chavel stated: This book was written after the movie, "War Room!" The author played an important part in the movie and she is also a well known Christian speaker, and daughter of the Pastor Tony Evans. Even though this book is written for women, I think it is an encouragement and challenge to all who read it. Many wonderful principles taught in this book! I trust the quotes below will be a blessing to you:

Not everything good thing is a God thing. ~ Priscilla Shirer

Satan’s ploy is to make you believe your core value as a person is tied to how much work you do, how much activity you can accomplish, how much stuff you can accumulate, how much business you can generate. ~Priscilla Shirer

God doesn’t want something from you. He wants something for you. Your value is not in what you do (as if you could ever do enough) but in who you are (as if you could ever be more loved and accepted by Him than you already are). ~Priscilla Shirer

Easy not to notice how every time Moses approached Pharaoh throughout the early part of Exodus, declaring God’s Words to the Egyptian ruler, he didn’t just say, “Let My people go,” like the lyrics to the old spiritual says. He said, “Let My people do, so that they may serve Me (Ex. 9:1). Said it about a dozen times. Look it up. There was a specific reason for their release. ~Priscilla Shirer

This one life is all we’ve got. This one pass through the gauntlet of life’s pressures and demands is our one chance to choose: Will we let them dominate and define us? Steal our hearts and devotion? Or will our service and adoration of the Father determine how we operate – determine what fills our plate? ~Priscilla Shirer

Unforgiveness is a strategic “design,” craftily implemented by your enemy to “outwit” you, to cripple your effectiveness in prayer and your power to stand against him victoriously. ~Priscilla Shirer

Yes: “All of God’s promises,” the Bible says, “have been fulfilled in Christ with a resounding ‘YES!’” (2 Cor. 1:20)

I would recommend this book to everyone!
