New Book and Film Series from Compassion Canada Provides Fresh Perspective on Poverty, Community, and Generosity

How might our vision change if God gave us His eyes to see the world around us? From Genesis to Revelation, God reveals His compassion for those facing not just physical poverty, but those experiencing emotional and spiritual poverty. Woven throughout those same pages of the Bible, God’s eternal perspective and hope-filled plan of redemption and restoration is clear.

This is the message of Compassion Canada’s new book and film series, Eyes to See, which just released last month.

With a unique 30-day personal devotional, six-week group study guide, and six 18 – 20 minute videos featuring Shaun Groves, Eyes to See is a fresh study of the beauty of community and restoration. On the very first day of the series, readers are reminded of the prayer of Hagar in Genesis 16:13: “You are the God who sees me…I have now seen the One who sees me” (NIV). With this compelling realization, readers are launched into a journey of discovering the God who sees, how He sees them, and how He desires them to see others…even in their own backyard.

“God has a beautiful plan for this broken world that He is unfolding even now, and He wants you to be a part of it.” The series dives right in, giving a broader understanding of poverty (head), a deeper love for God and others (heart), a deeper appreciation for their role in caring for the poor and vulnerable (hands), and a deeper commitment to an others-oriented lifestyle of love, compassion, and generosity (habits).

Practicing what they teach, Compassion has chosen to make the complete series available for free online at

The devotional book, available online as 30-daily readings, can also be purchased in softcover on or in bulk through the Eyes to See website.

With endorsements from Carey Nieuwhof, Ann Voskamp, Cheryl Weber, Ed Wilson, Derek Cook, and many other highly respected pastors, authors, and ministry leaders, Eyes to See is sure to become a highly sought-after resource for individuals, small groups, and churches seeking to deepen their understanding of a missional mindset, in a practical way.
