Mission Possible Canada
A Remarkable Story of His Work and Equipping the Next Generation of Christ-centered Leaders

Mission Possible Canada
A Remarkable Story of His Work and Equipping the Next Generation of Christ-centered Leaders In 1969 several men from Ohio went to Haiti on a short-term mission trip and outreach. The men were deeply moved by the situation of the native people, went home and began promoting their concerns and raising funds for ministry in Haiti. The mission began with a single school in Montrouis, Haiti about 50 miles north of the capital, Port-au-Prince, providing education and meals for hundreds of hungry children.

This year, Mission Possible (USA) celebrated their 40th anniversary. It was formally established in 1979 in Findlay, Ohio.

Mission Possible Canada
A Remarkable Story of His Work and Equipping the Next Generation of Christ-centered Leaders Mission Possible (Canada) was formed as a sister ministry in 1980 but closed in 1991. MPC was reformed in 1994 and we are celebrating 25 years of Ministry this month, November 2019!.

A Remarkable Story – A boy named Kenson...

Mission Possible Canada
A Remarkable Story of His Work and Equipping the Next Generation of Christ-centered Leaders One morning in Haiti as a medical team serving with Mission Possible came near our Degeance school, they noticed a woman standing at the riverbed next to her was a boy with a blanket draped around his shoulders. As they got closer they recognized the boy as one of our Degeance students, his upper torso and arms were severely burned, bubbling, blistered and raw skin indicated the wounds were fresh. Kenson knew that this medical team would be visiting his school that day, so his mother walked with him to wait in hopeful expectation that a doctor would know how to treat these burns.

Through a translator, the team heard the story how these severe burns had occurred. His father had been working in the field, and Kenson’s job was to prepare him food. While the big pot of rice was boiling, Kenson fell asleep on the ground next to the fire pit, he accidentally rolled over, knocking the boiling contents onto himself. The hot, sticky rice clung to his skin continuing the burning effects.

Every day for the next three weeks, Kenson and his mother made the trip down the mountain to our Mission Center to have his burns treated, about a forty-five-minute trip. By the grace of God, one team member had a connection with a Burn Specialist in the United States, made contact with him, and using the limited resources available was instrumental in the healing of Kenson’s burns.

During the daily wound dressing the love of Jesus was shared as they sang “Jesus Loves Me” to him. As the days passed his mother continued to prove her commitment to his care, so the team began teaching her how to change the dressings and attend to the burn wounds. She was grateful for the care her son was receiving, and for the knowledge and responsibility of caring for his wounds, too.

By the end of the month, Kenson’s burns had made miraculous improvements and he was instructed to wear long-sleeve shirts to protect his new skin growth. Not only physical wounds were healed during that month, but the hearts and faith of everyone involved were transformed, too.

Past, Present and Future

Over the 40 years thousands of children have been nourished physically, taught God’s Word, learned their ABC’s, were given medical attention and leadership training. Just this past year nearly 400,000 meals were served and hundreds of people accepted Christ, a thousand were trained in our teacher school, pastor seminars and leadership classes. It’s always a joy for us to see the smiling faces of children, enjoying their nutritious meals and clean drinking water, knowing they are being taught good hygiene practices and what fun it is to hear them singing songs like Father Abraham.

From this base Mission Possible reached out into the mountain villages around Montrouis, constructing and establishing schools, providing much-needed food and relief supplies, and fostering evangelism.

Mission Possible Canada
A Remarkable Story of His Work and Equipping the Next Generation of Christ-centered Leaders A vision for the Dominican Republic was formalized in 1992 with the establishment of Ebenezer Educational Center in the City of Barahona and the ministry has expanded under the direction of the Mission Possible Dominican Board of Directors. In 1997 the Mission became a member of the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability (ECFA), and in 2003, Mission Possible Canada became a Full Seal Member of the Canadian Council of Christian Charities (CCCC). Mission Possible USA and Mission Possible Canada work together in joint ministry, with members of each Board serving on a management committee which oversees the international work.

Mission Possible’s priorities are educating and equipping Haitian and Dominican leaders, with increasing focus on evangelism and discipleship, improving school programs and upgrading facilities. The ministry in Haiti now includes seven Christian schools (pre-K through 13th grade), a church at each school, discipleship classes, a Bible Training Center, a Vocational School and two church plants. Currently our schools are in the communities of Montrouis, St. Marc, Degeance, LaHatte, Lanzac, Dupin, and Chardene. On the Dominican side of the island, we have thriving Spanish and Haitian Creole churches, and church plants, as well as a modern educational facility in Barahona serving students in pre-K through 6th grade.

As a totally indigenous ministry we are providing 250 jobs for principals, teachers, administrators, cooks, yardmen, medical agents, security and more. Each year hundreds of school students are offered the opportunity to quality education, a feeding program, Biblical instruction, medical attention and leadership training.

Currently Haiti is in deep financial difficulty. Government has degenerated into chaos, the average person on the street is bewildered and angry, struggling to provide food and care for the family. Fuel is at an all time high. Schools and business have been closed and hospitals are functioning with limited power capabilities, food insecurities are further heightened by insufficient rain and road blocks just make life scary and difficult. Haiti need our prayers!

Through our Student Sponsorship Program, life changing possibilities can be offered as a student discovers their God-given potentials - just $35.00 per month can change a life forever.
