FBI Special Agent Grace Billingsley tracks serial killers, using her skills as a psychiatrist and About this book:

“FBI Special Agent Grace Billingsley tracks serial killers, using her skills as a psychiatrist and behavioral analyst to get dangerous people off the street and safely behind bars. But prison psychiatrist Sam Monroe knows that just because a killer is incarcerated doesn't mean they're not a threat. His own father, Peter, is a serial killer--in prison but certainly not out of Sam's life, as much as he wishes he was.

When bodies start showing up with Peter's MO, Sam and Grace are both called in to consult. They've met before--and though Grace thought they'd made a real connection, Sam ghosted her. They'll have to get past the awkwardness and mistrust to solve this case--especially because it's about to get personal.”

Series: Book #3 in the “Extreme Measures” series.

Lynette Eason is a master at romantic suspense!

Her sympathetic characters, Sam and Grace, drew me into the story, and I enjoyed "seeing" them work together to catch the serial killer. Thanks to plenty of action, high stakes, and a developing romance, I needed to keep reading. This definitely wasn't one of those books that I got bogged down reading. I also appreciated the themes of family, justice, and love that wound through these pages. Lynette's fast-paced, clear writing style brought this book together and made it an easy read. I need the fourth book in the series now! Like Lynette's other books, Critical Threat didn't have any questionable content that would take away from my reading enjoyment. Although this is the third book in a series, I believe it could stand fine on its own. Characters from previous books in the series made an appearance, but even though my memory of the previous two books is a little thin, I didn't have any problem following along with the action. I'd definitely recommend this novel to those who enjoy Christian fiction and romantic suspense.

Lynette Eason is back with another heart, pounding, fast paced suspense. Urgency keeps everyone focused on finding a serial killer who is fixated on the heroine. The hero and heroine have to overcome extreme challenges in their past as they take the risk to explore what could be. A really great Reid! Those who love, romantic suspense will enjoy every page.

Paula Shreckhise gave Critical Threat a 5 out of 5 stars
Definitely high-stakes, heart stopping suspense in this one. Grace and Sam are psychiatrists working for the FBI. Ever since Sam learned his father was a serial killer, he has wanted to help the mentally ill and help catch more killers. When a new case comes up, they work together to profile the person who is committing these bizarre crimes. It is early in their relationship, but things in the past could slow down the romance brewing. The suspense is non-stop, the killer is crafty and now Grace is in danger. The characters are well represented and have issues that they want to overcome. The faith element is believable and solid.

Ms. Eason is a long time favorite who manages to come up with intriguing, fresh storylines that keep your brain active, trying to figure out who the culprit is.

Kudos to another fast-paced puzzler.

Critical Threat is one of my favorite romantic suspense I've read this year. With a serial killer loose and all kinds of sub plots going on I didn't want to put the book down. This book is the third in the series. I unfortunately, haven't read the first two yet. But boy howdy, I will be reading those puppies soon. Even though I haven't read the first two, I didn't feel lost or not understand what was going on. It read like a stand alone. Believe me, this book kept me guessing until the end. I had my suspicions of who did it, but it really was a surprise with the twists and all. This is a great read and I recommend to all romantic suspense lovers.

Lynette Eason knows suspense. In this third book in her Extreme Measures series, she takes her readers on a wild, action-packed ride that twists and turns like crazy. Getting a glimpse inside the mind of a serial killer is a rough thing to see. Then there are all the surprises that keep popping up along the way. Totally riveting and attention grabbing, this one is for the keeper shelf.

Maureen Timerman gave Critical Threat a 5 out of 5 stars
If you enjoy an action filled fast paced read, this one hit that mark! From beginning to end this book had me page turning as fast as I could read!

Now this is the third book in this series, and yes, they are all as great as this one, but this can be read alone!

As we get into the case where a serial killer is targeting older women, we are with these FBI Specialists Grace and Peter, and really end up spending a lot of time together!

This read will keep you up late, and you won't know how it is all going to end until the last page is turned! Loved that there is an epilogue!

Teaser that there could be a fourth book coming! Yes!

Suspense at its best!

Whew! This book definitely took me for a ride! This is the third book in Lynette Eason's "Extreme Measures" series. Of the three, #2, Crossfire is my favorite so far. The action, twists and suspense in this one were great, but some of the crime details were a bit rough.

I wouldn't really recommend this to young readers.

Prison psychiatrist Sam Monroe/Romanos was interesting, and his kids were amusing. I loved Grace's character as a advisory special agent, and her tenacity for crime solving was admirable. Hers and Sam's dry humor was to die for. This mystery constantly kept me guessing until the last few chapters.

Age rating: 16 and up for blood, violent deaths, and crime scene details.

Ok y’all. I loved Life Flight and I loved Crossfire, but Critical Threat is my hands-down favorite of the Extreme Measures series so far! Everything about it is just perfection. Deep layers, masterful suspense, swoony romance, great characters, and lots of grace (no pun intended).

Psychiatrist & behavioral analyst Grace Billingsley has intrigued me since I first ‘met’ her on the pages of Life Flight, so I was eager to read her story. And let me tell you – it did not disappoint in the least. Her family layers add some extra tension to her character’s journey, causing her to juggle a heavy weight of guilt over her brother’s addiction (and the boundaries she’s had to set) even as she races against time to stop a serial killer. Grace is such a great character – smart, savvy and strong – who had me solidly in her corner from the get-go.

Family layers are something that prison psychiatrist Sam Monroe knows a great deal about too. For starters, his dad is a convicted & imprisoned serial killer whose past crimes bear a marked similarity to the disturbing murders that have been ramping up in the area. The fallout of his dad’s identity destroyed Sam’s marriage (though his former mother-in-law lives with Sam so that should tell you something about his ex-wife lol) so he’s hesitant to get involved with Grace even though his heart definitely pulls that direction. I really loved Sam and Grace – individually and together – and their swoony romance gave me all the feels.

Romance doesn’t dominate the story though because, you know, they’re kinda tied up with this serial killer and time is running out to figure out who’s behind the gruesome killings. I have to admit here that I was COMPLETELY taken off guard when they started to figure it out. I caught up quickly but there was an audible gasp coming from my direction when clues started clicking into place. I adore suspense reads that surprise me so fully, and Critical Threat did just that.

Bottom Line: Serial killers are piling up almost as quickly as bodies in Critical Threat and Lynette Eason does a stellar job once again of creating a riveting read that you won’t be able to put down. Sam and Grace make a formidable team in the FBI task force’s high-stakes mission to catch the killer – or killers – before more bodies taunt them, and I loved watching them work together and, of course, fall in love. Their romance is just as sweet as it is swoony, and they equally support the other in their respective struggles. All of the books in this series are outstanding, but this one quickly became my favorite. Looking forward to book four and Raina’s story next!
