Susan Fahner will join Habitat for Humanity Heartland Ontario as the new CEO, starting on October 7, 2024, during World Habitat Day!

Susan brings an extensive background in social enterprise, organizational development, facilitation and operational oversight in the not-for-profit, public and private sectors. In her previous role, as Director of Corporate Services for Mission Services of London, she was instrumental in leading the team to a new, sustainable, social enterprise model, while carrying oversight of other key areas such as human resources, volunteer engagement, facility management, and accreditation; most recently training over 120 staff in dialoguing through difficult conversations.

Susan has been a part of the London community her entire life, and continues to live here with her husband, Todd, and their five almost-adult children.

“I am honoured and incredibly excited to have been selected to lead Habitat for Humanity Heartland Ontario into this next era. The need is great and the vision, to see everyone with a safe and decent place to live, is critical to maintain for the increasing needs in London, Middlesex, Oxford, Elgin, Brant, Norfolk, and Perth regions. I look forward to engaging alongside this dynamic and highly skilled team of staff, volunteers, and partners, as we all work together to see what’s possible in our continued journey towards housing for all.”

With more than two decades of leadership experience, Susan has a deep commitment to addressing homelessness, poverty, and social issues. Her innovative approach and passion for serving the community align perfectly with Habitat’s mission of building affordable housing for those in need. We are excited to see how Susan’s expertise and visionary leadership will propel Habitat Heartland forward as we continue to create safe, sustainable housing solutions in the Heartland region.

Please join in welcoming Susan Fahner to the Habitat for Humanity family! Together, we look forward to building stronger communities and creating lasting change.

About Habitat for Humanity Heartland Ontario

Habitat for Humanity Heartland Ontario is a charitable organization dedicated to building strength, stability, and self-reliance through affordable homeownership. Serving the regions of London, Middlesex, Oxford, Elgin, Brant, Norfolk, and Perth, the organization works alongside volunteers, donors, and community partners to create safe and affordable housing for families in need. By providing a hand-up rather than a hand-out, Habitat empowers families to break the cycle of poverty through sustainable homeownership. In addition to building homes, Habitat for Humanity Heartland Ontario also operates ReStores, where donated new and gently used items, such as furniture, appliances, lighting fixtures, décor, building materials, tools, electronics and more, are sold to fund building projects and support local communities.
